Not a pleasant experience, live in Brighton and use Woodies tonight, burgers very dry and overcooked, waiting staff have not got a clue.
Very poor service, and dry, tasteless food... wont be going back

This is the place for Burgers in Brighton, we regularly eat there with the kids and on our own in the Evening where a more relaxed atomosphere can be found.
We have always found the food top notch, yes there is a slightly longer wait than usual for some restaurants but this you will find is due to all the food being cooked fresh which is pretty rare nowadays at this level - I would rather wait a little longer and soak up the Happy Days vibes than be served double quick a plate of precooked rubbish. My only complaint is the portions are too big....

I have visited this restaurant several times and whilst the food is always of a good standard in previous visits the extremely slow service has put me off returning. However, when we decided to give it another chance on Sunday we were pleasantly surprised. There was a big increase in the number of waiting staff and our waitress was attentive and polite. Obviously the management have taken notice of customer feedback, long may it continue!

Walked there from Brighton, on one afternoon of my holiday (3-4 miles), to work up an appetite. Loved the decor, 10/10 for effort in replicating the American Diner look and feel, waitresses were smart and friendly.
Went for the Hummer, Double 8oz cheeseburger, with Frings (Onions and Fries). This was a massive horizontal stack of pure beef, but very tasty and overall excellent quality.
In context, slightly expensive, but worth splashing out on a special occasion for the uniqueness of the place, and authentic food.

I have eaten at the Diner many times since it opened and so now with young children thought it would be a great place to take them. I've always liked the novelty of the place and the menu is okay for this type of food, burgers and shakes.
Unfortunately all that was good about it is now marred by incredibly poor, slow service and a couldn't care less attitude from the managing staff when the place is busy (every weekend and school holiday).
Knowing how busy it gets on a Sunday I turned up with my 2 yr old at 11.40 for the 12 o'clock lunch menu. I queued as expected for 20 mins (note if you have children the back of the diner is off limits). We were seated and ordered at 12.00. After 20 mins I asked if we could have our drinks. I was told they'd lost our order and that it would be a 20 minute wait, I explained I had already waited 20 mins because they had lost my order, but they didn't seem to care. After another 20mins I asked the manager what was happening with our food, I then saw him ask one of the waitresses to bring us menus!! Great attentive listening skills eh?!!
The food finally landed on our table at 1pm. I would have walked long before that but my daughter would have been non too happy as it was supposed to be a special treat.
By the time it turned up she was so tired and ready for her afternoon nap she didn't eat it. She is not known to leave food and normally has a huge appetite. A helpful waitress gave us her ice cream to take home.
I complained to the manager that she was too tired to eat her food, but he didn't give a damn. I was happy to pay for mine but not my daughters. I just wanted to get her home and to bed, I couldn't deal with a tired toddler and trying to complain. So I phoned and complained when I got home and was told one of the Directors would deal with it. I have heard nothing since.
I shall not be returning, even though the diner is very close to where we live.
Next time I'll take my daughter to Yo sushi or one of Brighton's great tapas bars, where they really are child friendly and have quick, friendly service.

I frequently visit Woodies Dinner and find the food atmosphere and service all excelent and would reconmend it to anyone. As to you C Douglas i find your previous remarks almost amusing as did it not occour to you that these tables were already booked up? - do you realise in this day and age it is possible to actually phone a restaurant beforehand and book a table? to be fair reviewing a restaurant without accually eating in it seems a little unfair does it not?

Having made several visits and reading previous reviews we have found both the service and the food to be excellent Chocolate and Coconut milkshakes are Fab and food is always freshly cooked. You may have to wait a little bit longer than Macdonalds but the wait is worth it

We think this is one of the best places we have ever been. The staff are lovely always very pleasant, efficient and NOTHING is ever too much for them.We are usually there on a Sunday morning. Our favourite is pancake stack and pisatchio shake. In fact we don't like to tell friends we go there because you are always so busy (such an obviously good place!) and we would hate to miss out!!

This is a quite a fun retro place to eat with a varied menu. However, whenever we eat there the experience is always a bit spoilt by the slow service and on occasion surly staff. Shame as this could be avoided.
