I had read some really great reviews about this place, and did have a very pleasant Friday night meal at the Kemp Brasserie. It wasn’t quite as good as I had expected though, to be honest. The service was very friendly, though rather on the slow side. They had quite a large party arrive just before us, so that probably accounts for that, but even so, we did book – so they could have managed things a bit better. My fellow diner ordered the calamari starter, of which there was a woeful amount. It was actually quite comical! My beef tomato and hallumi choice by comparison was enormous and really tasty, so we shared a good portion of that.

Main courses were very nice, and there was plenty of food. Really good value for money – there was a deal for two courses, which made it a really affordable evening of decent food and good wine. I’d like to go back again, as I think I may have caught them on a slightly off night, with a big group booking that may have held up the service and unexpectedly diminished the calamari supply!

I have visited the Kemp Brasserie (KB) many times and have always been pleased I went.As a person who has lived in Brighton for 44yrs I have eaten at most of the good restaurants(China Garden,Gars,Ginger-man,English's)and can honestly say KB is the only one I frequently return to as it is consistently excellent with good service ,fine food and a friendly atmosphere. What else does one expect when eating out,it ticks all the boxes.

This is the only time I have ever filled out a review as it is the first time I have felt it was worth my while ,that is because the KB is well worth a visit .Five stars.

I was booked this restaurant by the hotel we stayed at in Brighton. The staff were slow and very unhelpful. Having specifically asked if they had a good vegetarian selection, there turned out to be three items on the entire menu suitable for the both of us. This was intended to be a really special meal to start off our weekend away to celebrate our first anniversary. Instead, I went home and literally cried. My partner ended up going to the co-op and getting me a sandwich!

My partner's starter was half cooked, truly awful, main was uninspriing and again, really no taste. I in the end just had garlic bread and "brasserie potatoes".

The potatoes were smothered in what appeared to be chilli powder?! What self respecting chef uses dried chilli? These were completely unedible - I had one, and nearly coughed so much my lunch nearly came back. The staff were totally unapologetic about everything, rude, and argued over the bill - which we weren't even disputing paying for all of, even though it was utterly the worse meal we'd ever had out.

Also, the icing on the cake - it was so cold I thought I was actually going to have icicles down my body afterwards!

I had my partner's 50th birthday there two years ago and I should really have written a review before now but I'm not that organised...just as well becuse Janine and Nick and all their great staff made the night the best it could possibly be. We had 46 people and they still talk about it being one of the best nights they have ever had. I have aaten there many times and have never been disappointed. As they say....fight for a table!
