Sorry to say but this is not a Thai restaurant. The chef has no idea of what flavours Thai food should be like. The food is closer to Cantonese than Thai. Which leads me to think it's a Chinese trying to do Thai but not very successfully.

we went to thai garden after reading the good reviews on this site, we were welcomed by friendly members staff and given the menu which consisted of many oriental dishes as well as a good selection of delicious thai dishes.

the starters were very tasty and the service was very speedy.

the mains were again speedily brought to us, and were very flavoursome.

our overral experience in this resturant was the food was excellent, well presented full of flavour and speedily brought to us.

in balance, our only comment was some of the portions were slightly over generous, meaning that we could not enjoy more of the menu in the eat as much as you can style.

will be somewhere we will consider going back to!

Amazing food, i first went for my 18th Birthday... WOW i have never experienced such delicious food! I'm quite fussy on what i eat, yet i like to eat lots so the all you can eat option was definately in my favour. It was excellent value fo money, as all of the food is cooked to order rather than a buffet style, resulting in fresh, qualitive courses! i've been back on several occasions and cannot wait to go back there as i have failed to find anywhere else that meets its standards in either Brighton or Cardiff! I advise to stick to the starters for as long as you can as these are by far the most delicious dishes i have ever tasted!

My sister and I visit this restaurant on a regular basis as it is very good. The staff do their best to accommodate us and the food is first class. The staff are friendly and always bound across to top up our wine classes when they are getting low. It the attention to detail that we like. The restaurant got a first class write up for its hygiene recently. As we have been there so often we have sampled most of the menu and regularly pay our compliments to the chef. We will continue to visit as it is good value for money and a thoroughly good meal.

This is not a Thai restaurant, we have been in alot of Thai restaurants all over Sussex and this has got to be the worst and least skillfully cooked Thai food we have ever tasted, if the chef knows how to cook Thai food then he should have known that the red Thai curry should have bamboo shoots, coriander and lime, the Thai beef salad, he should have known that it needed lime, coriander and the meat should not have been like rubber. When I asked the head waitress if the10% service charge was optional the answer was no, it gets charged on every bill, this is not good business practice, as a restaurant manager myself i know that the customer will reward good service. When I also pointed out my dissatisfaction with the standard of the meal no apology was offered. In my own restaurant, if it is obvious that a customer is genuinely not happy, a discount is given. I appreciate that in a city like Brighton, a city not exactly renowned for its quality restaurants, the type of customers that you get, would not know the difference between good Thai food and bad Thai food, so therefore they will probably trade happily for years to come.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Brighton. It sells simple unpretentious and amazing Thai and Oriental dishes at a very reasonable price of around £15 eat as much as you like. The beauty of the eat as much as you like (Or eat as much as you can as it says on the menu) set up is that there's no nasty surprises when the bill comes and you can try things you wouldn't normally have without the fear of wasting your money. Saying that there isn't a thing on the menu which I've ever found less than yummy! I've been about 6 or 7 times now and the standard of the food has always been top notch. Although it's eat as much as you like there's none of those congealed trays and self service nonsense, you actually order off the menu like any other restaurant. To top it all the drinks are reasonable too and the staff are always nice and attentive. P.S try the Squid, you'll love it even if you don't like squid!

I have been to the Thai Garden on numerous occassions with various groups of people. I have always considered the food to be of a high stand with an excellent service and atmosphere, thus making it very good value for money. That is however until I went in the last weekend of June 2007. I should have guessed something wasn't quite right by the fact that we turned up at peak time on a Sat night and the place was not even a quarter full. The waiter (male) did not utter one word to us throughout our entire meal, (I have previously witnessed that he is capable of speech). Instead he choose to hover with his note pad at our shoulders waiting for us to place our orders, no eye contact, smile...nothing but a blank expression. When the food arrived it was 'plonked' on the table. The quality was dreadful and nowhere near the high standard that I have come to expect from them. We had not yet finished our main courses when the all the staff (includng chefs)took their pick of the tables available and begain eating - it was not even 22:15 at this stage! To order our bill we had to stand and call out, to call their attention. Reluctantly someone came over and subsequently our bill was literally chucked on the table. I have never been treated in such an appalling manner in any establishment. I will not be going back!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just about to go again... I love this restaurant and everyone else does too. It's ridiculous value for money and the food is quality. Best bet is to keep on the starters for ages (I usually skip the main course completely), and then eat lots of Lychee :D. Make sure you have some Tom Kah Kai (soup) - or the other one (the name escapes me) if you like the hot stuff!

My boyfriend and i took my parents and brother out for dinner at the Thai Garden on Saturday 16th June 2007, after reading the excellent reviews. well i have to say that i was very impressed. We rung up on the Friday evening to try and get a table and they managed to get us in for 6.30pm and that was the only avaialblity, and i can see why it was booked up. Its a set price of £14.80 per person and its all you can eat, the great thing about this is that you can order from the menu its not a buffet. The starters were fab and for each starter ordered they bring enough for everyone to share, which is great because you get a chance to tase everything. We had a lot of different dishes and we were able to try dishes we wouldnt normally. I would highly recommend this restaurant, i will certiainly be going back there very soon. The drinks are very reasonably priced, all in all very good value and one of the best Thai restaurants i have ever been to.
