Visited last night for the first time and thought it was fantastic. Spellbound tastes in the stifries and the service was first class. This will become one of my most-visited restaurants.

10 out of 10.

I took some clients here for lunch in December and was so impressed by everything it had to offer:

Service:

Very sleek, friendly and welcoming

Food:

The best I have had since being in Thailand! The menu was very varied and I loved the descriptions of each dish. We went for the lunchtime Thai Tapas menu – very satisfyingly tasty!

Atmosphere:

Contemporary, chic but also very authentic

Price:

Very reasonable considering the high quality.

Location:

Right in the centre of the South Lanes – cant miss it

Will defiantly be coming back with more clients to impress. Though my next trip is going to be a treat for my wife!

If you can eek out the dishes that are not covered in a soggy batter then you can actually get a really good meal in here. Some of their dishes are full of flavour and plentiful. Sadly some either have soggy batter or some pretty boney fish. The last time I went I stuck to the prawn dishes without batter. From memory there were 3 on the menu and they were all excellent. It was my 3rd visit and now i have worked my way round the menu, I know I will be back as the quality is pretty good with very decent prices. The service is polite as it should be and their charge for a decent name bubbly was very good compared toover 95% of restaurants.

Unusual and quirky layout of the restaurant and the staff create a very nice atmosphere.

Choose your food carefully and enjoy!

Actually went back twice in 1 day for lunch & dinner it was that good! The Pad Thai was one of the best I have tasted (I have travelled Thailand) & the chicken with ginger, chicken with chilli & basil & the green curry were all very very tasty. It was quiet when we were in there but can imagine it's a bit tight in there when busy. Am gutted we don't live in Brighton as we'd be in there all the while!

Do not listen to any of the bad reviews! I was introduced to this restuarent a few months ago and it is now my favourite. It is small and intimate. Each time I go, I have had s different, all of which have been lovely. The service is good but i have to admite, they can be a little slow. BUT this is more than compensated for by the gorgeous food!

My partner and I have been visiting mai ped for the past 6 months. We have returned time and time again as the food is always excellent and very friendly and attentive service. However, things have changed enormously.

The beginning of the meal was fine; we ordered a bottle of house wine and 2 glasses of water. The wine was served promptly but we had to wait for over 5 minutes for the water. When the water eventually arrived, the glasses were dirty with lipstick mark on one of the glasses. I pointed this out to the waiter who seemed annoyed with my comment. No apology was given. However we waited for another 5 minutes for the water to be served.

We ordered a starter to share but no plates were given. My main course was cold and my noodle arrived when I nearly finished my main. Once our mains had been finished and the plates were taken away. We waited for another 10 minutes for any other service. Shortly after that the bill was flung at us (we didn’t even ask for it). Very shortly after that the waiter came back with the credit card machine and told us that there were customers waiting for the table. We paid by cash and waited for couple of minutes for the change, which was never returned (even though we decided to pay 10% service charge, which we shouldn’t have). We left because we can’t be bothered with small amount of change.

I am very disappointed by the fact that this was once our favorite restaurant, but I can only assume it is now under new management which has let it down greatly.

We will not be returning neither will a lot of people we know.
