The King & I
your comments review this restaurant
Four of us eat at this restaurant on a Monday evening (31 July 2006). We then had to wait for over an hour for our main courses and when the food arrived the portions were small and the quality unbelievably appalling (just like the first course). It was as if the chef was having a night off and unqualified staff were doing their best to cobble together some food. Our experience at this restaurant was a big disappointment as the hotel we were staying at (the lovely Hotel Du Vin next door) had recommended the restaurant to us.
We attempted to politely complain to a man who appeared to be in charge but he just refused to talk to us. His rudeness and arrogance took us all by surprise and just added to our disappointment. We left almost speechless at how the management of this restaurant can behave in such a way.
It is appreciated that all restaurants occasionally make the odd mistake, but what distinguishes other quality restaurants from the King and I is the way they deal with the occasional dissatisfied customer. This restaurant stands out from the rest not just because of the poor quality of the food they are capable of producing, but the management itself. There can be no absolutely NO excuse for such rudeness and arrogance, so my advice is to give this restaurant a wide berth as it’s hit and miss on food quality, and a complete no-no when it comes to customer care should you dare to complain!

A group of 7 went to this restaurant at the weekend and although the food was nice I wasn't overly impressed with the service. We were crammed onto a small table which looked as though it would normaly seat four and so there was no room for placing dishes on the table when the food came, one of our starters didn't come because they had run out, but they didn't tell us until everyone else already had theirs. Despite these small issues the food was nice, there is a nice atmosphere in the restauarnt & we all had a good time.

just went last week for the fourth time and it didnt disappoint. The fact that i have been more than once says it all, lovely food, beautiful surroundings and friendly, well dressed staff. The member card is also a bonus giving me a discount everytime i eat there.
