i have just logged on to write a wonderful review about (no name) when i read the one from 'Ian Kemp". i too was there on Monday night and had a great time. the food was wonderful, my partner also had the lamb shank, which he said was perfectly cooked, i had the pheasant, which was amazing, our bowl of vegetables consisted of baby carrots, baby sweetcorn, spring onions, mange tout, green beans and caulieflower, well worth the extra price! Mr Kemp must have truly been very unlucky indeed. we thought it was brilliant all round, and would recommend it to anyone.

I'm not sure whether or not we visited on an off night but the food was distinctly mediocre and unfathomably expensive to boot.

My girlfriend had a lamb shank that was 90% fat, complete with accompanying slop. I THINK it was supposed to be gravy and mash, but it was a strange mixture of the two - some evil hyrid gra-sh if you will - that was more drinkable than eatable.

On the plus side though, the mash with my dinner was near on rock solid.

Surveying our fellow diners I noticed quite a few other digsruntled faces dotted around.

Also, is it to much to ask that when you pay £16 for a main course that vegetables come included? Paying £4 extra for a few carrots is a bit insulting.

Very very disappointing.

We found this place by chance on a blustery Saturday evening on our weekend away, and I have to say it really was one of the highlights of the week end...Well done No Name. Highly recommended for a nice, relatively cosy and romantic restaurant. The service was great, without being over attentive and was really genuine. The starters of prawns with crayfish were delicious - with really juicy prawns that came in abundance. I had the pheasant on cauliflower puree with asparagus & dauphinoise potatoes which were so delicious & moist that I had to fight my partner off! .Both the mains and starters were filling and really "feel good" unlike so many dishes that just look pretty on the plate but lack substance in the stomach! The only downside, was that the service between the first and main course felt a bit rushed - but that has got to be better than waiting upto 40 mins. between courses.

Again - Well done No Name!!!! and we'll certainly be back for more

On a few days break and saw the reviews on this site for no name restaurant, so thought we would give it a go.

Went on a quite Monday night so no real atmosphere.

Order was taken quickly, but starters were a big disappointment.

The pate on brioche was ok, but my wife's soufflé was only just warm and not very flavoursome, so did not hold out much hope for the more complicated mains.

My tuna with pasta was ok, but overpriced and the pesto added to it was clawing on the taste buds. My wife's grilled polenta with Mediterranean vegetables was tasteless and again overpriced. Overall was not good value and will remember not to visit again when next in Brighton.

Brill place to go, couldn't fault anything hence 10/10 for all!! Very stylish place yet relaxed. Good varied menu, extensive wine list and the friendliest, most helpful staff you could wish for! We were only in Brighton for a short break, the first night we went we were lucky enough to coincide with a jazz band playing and the place was buzzing! We both had fillet steaks as a main course which were to die for, probably the best I've had! We liked it so much we went back a second night and again the food and ambience were superb! I would definately recommend No-Name as a must!!

Seems corny to award 10/10 for everything but we really couldnt fault the No-Name. We were only in Brighton for a short break but we had such a good time we visited twice and each time the food was superb. The first night we were lucky enough to catch a jazz band and the place was buzzing. The whole atmosphere of the place is great, nice decor, relaxed, great food and fab service. Without exception the staff were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Over the 2 nights we sampled starters, main, desserts and the cheese board, it was all yum but I have to recommend the fillet steak in particular, it has to be the best I've had! The menu is very varied as is the wine list with something for everyone. You have to go there!!

Third time of visiting and as always very impressed with their menu, laid back friendly atmosphere, did not feel rushed as made a nice evening enjoying good food and wine with friends. Although not cheap I definitely feel the meal was worth it especially the deserts.

Lovely meal on Saturday night, moules to start shared between two of us, followed by monkfish and tuna respectively; all cooked to perfection. Staff very welcoming, atmoshpere was friendly and cheerful. Not the cheapest, but not extortionate. We had a lovely evening out, thank you.
