The No Name Restaurant and Bar

Disappointing - Living in Brighton we have plenty of choice in cuisine. Based on past experience I though noname restaurant was
safe bet for a good evening.
Everything was going well until my partners battered Monk Fish was served to our table in a very raw state which resulted in us not both eating of our meals together.
Long story short - The manager called it unlucky and didn't see the need to offer any concessions when preparing the bill. People in previous reviews have suggested that this restaurant is expensive. I would agree a little but don't mind if the food is up to scratch and cooked. I quiet word with the manager left me with impression that the emphasis at this restaurant is now on bottom line profit as opposed to good quality food and customer satisfaction. Needless to say we and other customers we know may be inclined to try some of the competition that Brighton has to offer.

My partner and I had a lovely meal here. I had the chicken breast filled with garlic butter. My partner had the lamb shank. The chicken was full of flavour and beautifully cooked. It was soft and juicy and tasted gorgeous with the garlic butter. The lamb on the lamb shank was so tender that it fell off the bone.
We decided to go for the cheese and biscuits which was lovely. Although, after we saw the puddings that some of the other tables had ordered, we wondered if we should have been a bit more indulgent!
Overall, lovely and friendly service, good food, a great atmosphere. All in all, a great place. I’ll be coming again.

Went to the No Name a few weeks ago and I was shocked to find out that a plate of pasta and butternut squash cost £13. A pasta dish??? On top of the pasta they put a garnish of curly salad leaves. Since when you put inedible salad leaves on pasta? Have these people ever visited Italy? My boyfriend had a steak - the size of a saucer - with mashed potatoes, i.e. a spoonful, and they were uncooked! That was £17!
I can't believe that people are prepared so much for poor quality cuisine of this type.

Have eaten here on several occassions now as it's quite a funky place to eat, always thought the service can be a bit of a hit and miss. The last time was a big MISS, waiting 20 mins to get any attention at the beginning of the meal. The food was very average too and is a touch pricey for what it is. Other tables were complaining about wrong orders and waiting times. Won't be going here again in the near future. As i said it is quite funky but that's about it.

Went here on saturday night - we hadn't booked so quite happily waited in their bar area for a table. However, we were forgotten about and had to remind them, when we noticed plenty of empty tables spare! The actual restaurant is very nice and the staff were good and friendly. The food was ok but nothing amazing - I had swordfish which was supposed to be seared but was almost burnt and overcooked. All it came with was some lettuce, tomatoes and red onion so for £13 it was extremely overpriced. At £4 for a side dish, I didn't feel like ordering anything else! So, the food was ok but for the price there are plenty of better places (The Strand, Kemp Brasserie, The Saint etc). I probably wouldn't go back there purely due to value for money.

My girlfriend and I spent a night in Brighton last week and spent a short time walking around trying to find a suitable restaurant. Without even looking at the menu the No Name Restuarant grabbed our attention straight away. It looked relaxed and modern and the customers looked like they were enjoying themselves... always a good sign. We didn't actually have a starter as my girlfriend already had her eyes on one of the many puddings. Whilst our main courses took a little while to come the excellent waitress kept us informed regularly enough and was perfectly charming. When it came it was a treat. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were nice and crisp. I had the Chicken with Garlic whilst my girlfriend had a chicken salad with roast potatoes. The puddings did not disappoint either and whilst I was starting to feel a little full nothing was going to stop me from finishing the homemade toffee sponge pudding which was absolutely divine. I cannot fault this restaurant and would recommend it to a couple or group of friends looking for quality food in a nice relaxed atmosphere.

The food was lovely and the staff always friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed - there's always a big mix of young and old, gay and straight. I would definitely (and have) recommend to friends. They are also doing an offer at the moment where you can get a free bottle of house wine through Monday - Thursday when you produce a recepit of a previous meal there.
