This restaurant has not closed but I hope it does soon. I have never posted a review before but this was an insult to Italy and to any customer. Poor food, dirty tables, disgusting toilets, slow and surly staff who were swearing at the customers and had the arrogance to assume nobody could understand them - STAY AWAY. To cap it all they had the audacity to put on an automatic 10% service charge on a table of four...

Slow service took ages to get a drink, ages to even order our food hour later still waiting for our main, food below standard garlic bread well you would get better in tesco!

Didn't stick around for our main after a disaster starter!

Lovely quaint little restaurant with friendly staff. But TERRIBLE food. Like something you'd buy in Iceland or Lidl and heat up in the microwave. For fans of cheap Bernard Matthews turkey escalopes, I'd recomend the frightfully similar Turkey Milanese, which I'm sure the people of Milan would be ashamed to have associated with their fine cuisine. And possibly the most bland spaghetti bolognese I've ever eaten. If there was a taste associated with the word 'cheap' I now know what it is. Such a shame as it's a lovely restaurant in a nice location and with nice staff. But the food is an insult to Italy.

Must say the most varied and authentic Italian menu I have ever seen, its obvious a lot of experience went in to it, much more interesting than your boring chain Italian, Italian waiters too! Very nice place to spend an evening, they dont hurry you along, price not bad either.

Very poor food. Nice location, such a shame it is wasted. The food was like school canteen food. No taste. I had an Italian friend with me, and it was actually embarrasing to bring them here. They even commented that Pizza Hut is closer to authentic Italian food. Most of the food tasted like microwave food from the supermarket. Definitely wont be going here again.

I went here on 7th October. A nice pretty and cosy restaurant, with friendly staff. But the food was very poor. I had turkey milanese with spaghetti, which was basically a Bernard Matthews turkey escalope with some very cheap tasting thin spaghetti. We also ordered a lasagne, which was small and had very little meat in it. The starters were also disapointing. For the price, it was definitely not worth it. It was more like school canteen food. A shame really as it is in a great location, it is nice inside (apart from the toilets) and the staff are friendly and fast.

Very poor experience, service was slow and food whilst some what tasty was limited as some dishes were not available.... apparently the butcher let the owner down.... forward planning I would say and also a contingencty would be helpful or at least to advise the staff so that they in turn can advise the customers what is available from the menu.

Have sent an email to the restaurant and still awaiting a response one week later

I was cruising the Lanes in Brighton with my family last weekend, when we decided to try a family run traditional Italian Restaurant Picasso's-a place very different and unique from the rest of the chain restaurants which get away just with the brand names, in my opinion . Despite the fact that the restaurant was very very busy, we were welcomed inside and shown a nice table by the window. There was the familiar Italian atmosphere, enhanced by the soothing crescendo of Italian music. We felt very much at home. Our drinks were served immediatley, while we took our time browsing through a wide range and variety of distinctivley Southern Italian food-so different from the rest of the Italian food we've tried. The food was fresh and very tasty. You can request the ingredients according to your own choice and liking. The menu is diverse and flexible. I had a steak served with a choice of side order (I requested vegetables) and my wife had Ravioli Sofia Loren- Picasso's special pasta-highly recommended. Our kids had their children's portion of pizza and pasta which they loved very much. The staff looked after us and our children, while we enjoyed our dinner. For me and my family it was a memorable dinner. Highly recommended and price-worthy. Being satisfied with the service, we left extra tips alongwith the service charge.I disagree with the comment below which are exaggerated. Maybe the person carried in the heavy downpour from outside.

We arrived yesterday (25th August) during the heavy downpoar and were well greeted. The restaurant was empty and we were given our table for three by the window. Ordered drinks and looked at the menu.

Proceeded to order starters which was mushrooms in herbs and butter, a mozarella salad. Ordered main course from the very extensive menu which was the lamb shank, veal and tagliatelle.

Starters arrived and then the manager came down and said sorry no lamb or veal as 'my butcher let me down' (that old chestnut) but could do the beef with any sauce you want..... I then decided on beef medallions but advised if no beef medallions then I will have the steak.......30mins later out came the beef.. not medallions..... sorry I didnt hear you was the response. Anyway, tasted ok and was alright however the beef was definately frozen and you could tell by the taste. No real care or interest in this however the waitress was I think embarrased. Service - at no point did anyone come over and say is there anything else i can get you or is everything ok?.... No desert wanted, asked for the bill and had included a 10% service charge..... for what I dont know..... Would not recommend and highly dissapointing.
