I was recomended to go to this restaurant by asking someone as i was walking in Preston street, it was a very good experience, the food was hot, tasty & you can tell when itis cooked by an Italian chef!!! The service was attentive but not intrusive the two waiters created an Italian ambience by talking in their language when i was greeted and as i was leaving.I have had a very good evening and i considered it to be good value for money!!!

Rude and unaccommodating. I really would not bother.

We were on the look out for a typical Italian restaurant this weekend and decided to try Casalingo (after visiting this website!). We hoped to find a place that had a more extensive menu than just pizzas and pastas and weren't disappointed. The food was good although we were surprised that there were no salads on the menu apart from a side salad with the main course. However I did object to paying extra for any vegetables! We paid £35 per head..... although £10 of this was for drinks! Still.....a bit expensive.
The service was good apart from the waitress refusing to take away the sixth chair around the circular table (we had booked for five...one of the group not having a partner. I'm sure she didn't need reminding).
The atmosphere was good as the restaurant was quite busy. One of our friends didn't appreciate being knocked into on a number of occasions as the waitress moved around to serve other tables.
A good evening however was had by all. Unsure whether we would make this a regular place to eat.

Did a lot of research to find the perfect Italian restaurant for our 10th Anniversary. Experienced many excellent Italians in Milan and Bologna as well as London due to work location. Expectations were high after reading Guardian and local reviews. Our night however was very poor.
In fact despite being sweet tooth fanatics we asked for the bill after main course! Starters included mushrooms swamped in oil butter and garlic and a antipasto selection of meat with no salad or oil or dressing. After this my wife and I went for steak in garlic sauce (gelantonous and sticky - bbq sauce like) and Lobster and Crab pancakes which were meaningless and tasteless - ADD these starters and main courses to a average bottle of white wine and you get a bill for £73.00 well over priced and over-rated based on internet reviews - stick to 'Latin in the lanes' this is the best italian in Brighton by far. Wish I had booked our night there as we both went home glum on what was supposed to be a special night.
