We always eat at casalingo when we want to eat Italian food in Brighton, it is just down the road from where we live.
We are always so impressed by the whole ensemble at this well run restaurant but never thought of leaving a review.
We are only doing this because our son read the previous report and we all felt we should reply and let people know how good this restaurant is compared to others in the City.
If you are new to Brighton you have to eat at Casalingo you will not regret it, serving North Italian food with flair and at competitive price!!!
Enjoy your meal!!!

have been visiting casalingo for many years now but i am sad to say it has got worse over the last few visit, however our last visit of few days ago it was the worst experience. we waited ages for our food, the restaurant was almost empty, we complained to the manager? he just shrugged off no apology or solution to the problem, what an attitude.
lots of other italian restaurant in brighton offer good food and good service

This is such a great restaurant !! There were eight of us coming from three different cities and reserved a table at Casalingo's for a celebratory meal on Saturday night !! We do this every year so finger's are always crossed it will be a good one !! AND IT WAS BRILLIANT !! We all had a starter and a main, coffees and shared a desert. Along with copious amounts of red and white wine !! We are all well travelled and were amazed at how the food at Casalingo's was better than a lot of what we had ever eaten before, both abroad and in the UK. Even with a few fussy diets and different tastes the menu had something for everyone !! We had someone who can’t eat egg, sea food, peppers or chilies, another who is diabetic and can't eat nuts and one who hates anything with cream!! Many of us tried the sea food and it was so fresh and tasty !!! Two of us had the Gamberone and it was too good for words!!! You get 5 huge gamberone about 5 cm long each on a sizzling platter!! Other meals included steaks, pasta and fillets of fish!! And everyone thought it was brilliant !! The service was fast despite the entire place being packed and the atmosphere was buzzing and very authentic. This restaurant is designed so that even with only a few people eating the atmosphere would still be a good one !! Having walked past, it isn’t what you expect and I was skeptical, but the review sites listed this one as the best in Brighton.... THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN BRIGHTON: Tried and Tested. A world apart from the other chain and pretentious restaurants. Quality food, service and atmosphere... not to mention value for money !!! If you want a good night eat here…. We won’t be going anywhere else!! ***** !!! Enjoy : )

Having searched high and low for an authentic Italian restaurant to take my partner and friends to last Saturday, I found Casalingos.
It offered great food, service was very friendly and not too in our faces.
We are going back this saturday with our family!

My husband and I ate at Casalingos in January. We had a wonderful evening. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table. The service was excellent and the food was lovely. My Tournedos Rossini was superb, it was like cutting butter. We have booked to go to Brighton for my birthday next year and I have already checked that the restaurant will be open.

As the owner of an Italian restaurant I have a few points to make about Casalingo. I was recommended the restaurant by a friend and made a point of visiting as soon as we arrived in Brighton for a short stay. We made the following observations:
1) We were greeted by one of the most unenthusiastic waiters I have ever had the displeasure of being served by.
2) Starters were all pretty good, especially the risotto.
3) Main courses were bland and tasteless. Why don't chefs use salt!!
4) Desserts were good with nice presentation.
5) After years of eating out I tend not to look at the bottle of wine ordered or even try the wine but rather allow the waiter to "just pour". Half way through the meal I realised that we had been given Pinot Grigio instead of Grillo.
6) The final bill of £113.00 for three of us would be expensive in London.
We commented on leaving the restaurant that if it wasn't for the obnoxious waiter we probably would have left happy but we left with a sour taste in our mouths.
