We have been going here for years and up till now had good meals and great service. Tonight we went for our "usual" the seafood pizza and our guests had a steak and some pasta.
The soggy pizza had no seafood at all on it other than the tiniest bit of baby squid (no prawns or mussels or anything) the steak was on some kind of extreme diet and came with the smallest potato I have ever seen.
Nice people, nice atmosphere, but very embarrassing when it came to the food. The desserts were OK (difficult to make a mess of tiramisu or profiteroles etc)
I am only hoping the chef was off on holiday or something but until I find out what happened we will not be returning (shame!)

I visited yesterday and thought the restaurant was just OK. Not good, not bad, but certainly not the best Italian in Brighton.
Firstly, the good stuff: The food, although small in portions was very good. We had a pizza (very nice) and cannelloni which looked particularly good. I love their way of celebrating peoples' birthdays with 'happy birthday' played on an accordion.
Now the less impressive stuff: Getting main courses before we had even finished starters. It felt like we were being rushed. The starters and deserts were pretty uninspiring. The garlic bread was nothing to write home about, and the desserts were quite pedestrian. The restaurant seemed quite dated inside, with paper table cloths and tatty laminated menus.
So it was OK, but I don't know why people turn their noses up at chains like Prezzo and Zizi when I think they're both far superior in terms of food choice, service, atmosphere, decor and food quality.
It wasn't unpleasant, but the most 'average' restaurant I have been to since Donatello's. Not recommended, but no reason to really avoid either.

I'm also a marina resident and a regular at Bella Napoli. It is often very busy, despite competition from 4 other Italian restaurants on the site. Service is fine (some of the old managers have a slight weariness to their civility, but they're fine), the food is usually excellent and brilliant value for money. Selection isn't huge for vegetarians but the pasta is always spot-on and the chefs are not inflexible if asked. The atmosphere is pure cliche, even down to the choice of live music, but to me that adds to the unpolished charm. Better that than the bland experience in any of the big chains. Recommended.

bella napoli is a great restaurant .. i come here with my family and sometimes just me and the wife and always have excellent service and wonderful food. Pizzas are really tasty and not like flat white biscuits like most pizza places in brighton .... the fish dishes are truly superb my wife always has the stuffed sole fillets and really enjoys this dish. I consider it great value for money and a friendly atmosphere with good service.. i definately recommend it..

As a Marina resident I can't believe all the negative reviews about this restaurant. We eat here at least once a fortnight and the food and service are always consistently good. Its always packed out - surely an indication of its popularity. Ignore the negative comments - try it for yourselves!
