My family and I eat on Friday evening at the Elizabethan Cottage Tandori in Patcham Brighton. After booking a table for 5 people at 8.pm, we didn't get to sit down until 8.15pm and had to wait in a very small crowded area near the door. Whereas the food was O.K., the service was poor. We didn't order a starter and just had popadums. We had to wait until 9.35pm for our meal. We haven't been there for many years and most certainly won't go back for many years either.

In my opinion The Elizabethan Cottage Tandoori is one of the finest indian restaurants in nthe country. Staff are very friendly, food is simply delicious.I have had the great pleasure of eating here on many occasions and never fail to be impressed with the quality of food and cleanliness, without the usual over use oils and colourings(Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka) as is the case with many other indian restaurants.

I would highly recommend this restaurant without reservation.

Had a meal there last evening. Very extensive menu, very good quality food and reasonably priced. My partner and I had our main meal with a few side orders, a bottle of wine, two coffees and two brandies, which came to the grand total of £60. Will go again.

We like to eat here twice a month. The food is fresh. The vegetarian menu is very extensive. The various breads also always taste fresh.

Just fantastic, we visit Brighton about every 2 months for a long weekend and always go here for a meal on one of the nights. The food is excellent, the warm poppadoms and dips are to die for. Everywhere is clean, staff are very attentive and polite. At about £7 for a good curry including a portion of pilau rice is just right. I highly recommend the Elizabethan Cottage.

I have visited this restaurant many times and have always found the food and service to be of a very high standard. Prices are no more than any other good Brighton curry house. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Having read the previous review I was somewhat dubious about eating at this restaurant last night. In actual fact we had an excellent meal, with attentive

service (and clean plates!). The price was very fair for the quality of the meal.

I'm sure we will go back to the Elizabethean and will recommend it to people

who don't want to travel in to central Brighton or Hove with all the attendance problems with parking.

Where do i start ???? went there 4 weeks ago as a treat with my wife.

1) we had at least 5 different people look after our table never the same one...

2) my onion barji came out 2 mins after ordering ( microwaved) and doughy. not fresh!!! how can it be in 2 mins

3)dirty plates bought out which the waiter just wiped, by the way there were stains all over his trousers even though we were about the first in!

4) where do i start on the curries !!! pre heated Muck is the most accurate i can think of like gravy re heated and it was as we saw the large white tubs in the fridge not even hidden!!.............a few supposed King prawns....... Rubber like quality no flair or presentation. Its hard to describe the dullness of what was presented.

5) the bill for two awfull curries ...remember gray and prawns re heated , one nan bread and 2 drinks £40 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes £40...................we left never to return and felt well and truly done!!
