The worst curry I can ever remember eating.
When ordering chicken dansak I was advised that it was sweet and sour and not like other establishments and asked to pay extra if i wanted to make it spicy. It arrived with too much sauce compared to meat and was far too sweet, it was not in the slightest spicy. The same can be said of the tikka masala. The mushroom rice was very stodgy as were the onion bhajis which resembled the cheap supermarket variety only with raw onion inside.
The only redeeming features were an average peshwari naan and very garlicky Tarka dal.
Whilst dining I overheard the waiter explaining to a disgruntled take away punter on the telephone that 'saffrons passanda does not taste like other establishments' never a truer word has been said - avoid at all costs!

Disappointing. My pathia was more like a sweet chicken casserole and my partner had to add chilli sauce having asked for it his biriany to be madras heat. Chicken pieces were lovely though and not swimming in oil like some curries.

Any food i've had is outstanding, either in the restaurant or as a take away, the service is second to none.
I have been to many indian restaurants in the south and this is by far the best.

great restaurant, the food is great especially the student menu (very cheap considering the quality) and the service is very personalised, only went twice and they remembered us.
Def worth the visit if you live local

Saffrons is an Indian restaurant on the way out of town, so it serves locals who live around Lewes Road- great for them, sad for me who no longer lives near enough to get take-away once a week! This is an restaurant and a take-away and it's excellent at both. Their Tarka Dall is still the best Dall in Brighton, despite my new allegiance to Agra Tandoori's onion bhajis! The restaurant is on the busy Coombe Terrace which is basically the extension of Lewes Rd, so not really a nice view or atmosphere; but the inside of this place manages to leave it all behind with quite a fancy interior in shades of calming blue and chrome! They pride themselves on impeccable service, which means that you can have up to five waiters rushing around your table- great service but sometimes a little too much! The food is incredible- from the fresh crispy poppadoms to the homemade samosas and bhajis- all served with copious pickles and sauces- through to the dall and sag paneer that I usually order. Amazing paneer! The boyfriend recommends the byriani and vindaloo- he loves very spicy and they supply him with his drug! All the sauces and ingredients are fresh. The breads are superb. Why am I not living nearby?! Good prices too.
