I've always enjoyed eating here. Yes, it's a little more expensive but it's worth it for the fresh tasting food, always carefully prepared and presented, an excellent wine list, and the unobtrusive but friendly service.I look forward to returning.

Excellent tasting food, more expensive than most places, but well worth paying more. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Been to this place on numerous occasions and it is by far the best place in Brighton for an Indian. The food is very good, the staff attentive, and very good vlaue for money. It's contemporary but it doesn't have its head up its you know what (unlike many 'modern' Indian restuarants you'll find in London).

Had some really excellent meals from here (though lamb is a bit tough). Always good customer service and friendly staff. Good value for money

This is my favourite restaurant when I am on business in Brighton. Haven't eaten more tasty indian food anywhere yet. Absolutely no complaints on the service either.

I organised a party of 16 for saturaday night at river spice. I reserved the table a week in advance, but when i called to confirm this they had never heard of me. We were on a tight schedule, we had to be in and out within two and a half hours, which the resturant were fully aware of. Despite it being half full, it took a full hour before we could order and another hour before our food arrived. We were on two tables, one table had finished their main course before the first had received their starters. Neither table got any naan bread, despite reminders.
The food was good, but the experience ruined by the total incompetence of the staff and manager, I got the impression he had never run a resturant before. Worse than this was the aggressive attitiude of some of the staff, when we politely complained and asked for a discount. Other people in the resturant got up and walked out because they were so disgusted by our treatment. Needless to say i won't be returning and cannot in good heart recommend river spice to anyone.

My experience of River Spice wasn't quite so upbeat as the other reviewers'. The food was seriously sugary much akeen to eating candy floss, overpriced and the service was unpleasant at best.
You could tell that they use nice ingredients and nice spices but that was definately spoilt by the amount of sugar added to the dish. My main course was actually sweeter than my sweet lassi!!!
My advice: head further up Preston Street (Planet India) for a cheaper and tastier treat or if you insist on going to River Spice tell them that you're diabetic ;o)
