Seagull Restaurant

I visited the Seagull with three foreign guests. I wanted to give them a good taste of England!! We ordered tea for four, plaice and chips X2 , grilled seabass and whitebait.
Place was busy but service was reasonable. Provided by young female language students who were polite.
-The tea cheap and nasty.
-Seabass was good but served with frozen carrots which were undercooked.
-Whitebait over-done. It had also been rolled in breadcrumbs like frozen scampi which was a weird take on the way to do this dish.
-Batter on plaice was unseasoned, too thick and far too oily.
-Chips were very good standard chipshop style. Hot and fresh and delicious.
Price for meal for 4 was £41. Poor quality and therefore poor value. For goodness sake....How hard can it be to provice a good cup of tea and a decent plate of fish and chips?????

I am a Brighton resident and have eaten here on two occasions.
Once my wife ordered a cream tea which she received but the scone was what looked like a supermarket mini-scone from a pack of six, so they were on a winner there!
I complained but the waiter just smiled like he didn't understand english.
Another occasion I bought sausage and chips for my girls £1.10 per sausage - now this is the price of a _jumbo_ sausage in any other chip shop on the sea front, but not at The Seagull oh no! just regular size sausages for jumbo sausage price.
I complained but was told I didn't understand business!! HA
Well I hope this review 'helps' their business!! Don't go - serious portion size issues here!
