I have visited terraces on many occasions and I have always had an enjoyable meal and I think the prices reasonably reflect the quality of the locally sourced seasonal food.
Although smart, it is still laid back and not in the slightest bit stuffy, the waiting staff have always been helpful and accommodating. The Chef is happy to tweak a recipe to your preference - a sure sign that all of the food is freshly cooked and not prepared days before.
if you want a relaxed, long, enjoyable meal made with great ingredients then I would strongly recommend Sevendials
I love it

What a miserable experience from start to finish. Ten friends went to celebrate my Birthday yesterday for lunch. We had to attract the attention of waiting staff throughout; for drinks, menus etc. Some menus were out of date with different prices. We were warned that there would be a 20 minute delay with the food arriving, this turned out to be 40 minutes. They had run out of roasts at 3pm. We ordered from across the menu, only one person enjoyed the food, a beef and ale pie. All the rest was tasteless, overpriced, too small or a combination of all. It then took 30 minutes to get the correct bill. We refused to pay the service charge, and were actually challenged on this, after clearly stating we were unhappy with both the food and service. The waitress just marched off to loudly inform other staff of the situation as we left. No apology.
TBG has a great location, just drink their overpriced beer on the terrace and move on to the numerous places around that offer quality food. We were all hungry after lunch too.

My friends recently got married at the terraces it was such a fantastic day and such a beautiful venue I decided to have my birthday dinner there as well a week later, I have to say I had very high expectations after the wedding I went to and I can safely say I was not disappointed, we had the most wonderful time the food and staff were both amazing, my friends got me a cake and the waiter brought it up at the end of the meal singing happy birthday (very embarrassing but fun!)
I really recommend the terraces to everyone and I’m sure this will be the start of a birthday tradition!

Reading the reviews below I was really shocked to find negative feedback as I went to terraces at the weekend with 7 other friends and we had a great time!
The service was fantstic - clearly the staff were very busy with a packed restaurant yet they still attended to our every need and were smiling throughout!
The food was great and the pimms gorgeous (better than the usual on tap, only two piecs of fruit you get elsewhere!)
I really love this place and would definitely return - the perfect summer chill out spot!

Such a poor excuse for a restaurant and far too expensive for what it is. I don't know if the previous comment even went to the same place as I did.
you get basically tricked thinking that the cost would be worth it but once the dish arrives, you are served with such poor quality. When will this place finally close down and something decent put in its place?

My husband and I ate at the terraces on the bank holiday, the food was fantastic and our waiter was completely charming, the view is in my opinion the best in Brighton.
I had a delightful salmon dish that I thoroughly enjoyed and my husband had a very generous helping of fish and chips (the fish nearly didn’t fit on the plate)
All in all I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone and will defiantly be coming back soon! 10 out of 10

I'm sorry to say that eating at this restaurant on Saturday night was one of the most experiences I have had in recent times. My husband and I were so hungry we decided to stay, despite our initial reservations about the place, due to the very limited and somewhat bizarre menu - pork tagine??? A steak was almost 20 quid a pop, so we decided against that, my husband opting for sausages and mash, and I for chicken with mushroom risotto. What came out was lazy, tasteless, clearly microwaved sub average Harvester food. We ate around half of it, again due to being so hungry at that stage, and both of us were ill when we got home - who knows if it was the food, but it sure seemed a coincidence. I cannot stress how much this place should be avoided until it cleans up it's act. It's a beautiful location, and the people of this town deserve significantly better than this poorly run, badly cooked, overpriced rubbish.

Went down to Brighton beach with my family for the bank holiday Monday, nice weather, found a restaurant with a great view,........but once we sat down inside, we felt immediately uncomfortable by the unresponsive and incredibly unfriendly staff. No host or someone who seemed in charge. Awful food, would expect that kind of food from a Harvester pub. Just another business relying on chance visits from tourism. They clearly haven't got a clue how to run a restaurant business. The view wasn't enough to make me ever come back

Partner and I ate here yesterday. Lovely location but the food was no better than pub standard.
I had the fish and chips but it seemed no better than what you would get from a frozen section of a supermarket. The portion was small and the fish was like cotton wool and bland.
They got our bill wrong at the end and they had to correct it. Not a very good impression.
