The food quality is excellent, I especially like the duck rice they do there.

I cook a lot of Asian style cuisine so I'm not easily impressed!

The selection they have is vast, you are spoilt for choice!

This is by far one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to.

My only complaint is the angry man that is always in there, he must be the owner or something. In addition, he's rude when you call up to book! When you're seated in there he stands there waiting for you to leave. After going there several times he doesn't seem so bad, just ignore him. So if you go in there be sure to get one of the cute Chinese women so serve you and not him!

The only reason I haven't given it 10 al round is because of that guy!

visited last night and the food was lovely.

Our visit was spoilt though by the staff making it pretty clear they wanted us out asap. The'manager / owner' just sat at a table glaring at us for our whole meal.

I will go back but I hope she will be in a better mood next time.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a Chinese friend .

I have always loved Chinese food and through the years I have eaten in many restaurants...This place was fantastic. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. The best Chinese Food out of China and Hong Kong. Whenever I am in Brighton - it's time to stop at Good Friends! :0)

Ask for the Chinese menu - special dishes - you need to taste it.

I have eaten Chinese food for decades, including many times in China. In my opinion this is reliably one of the best Chinese restaurants in the UK. I've never had a dud meal. I suggest ordering dishes from the Chinese menu (the smaller format menu). All time favourites are chilli-garlic crab, roast duck, steamed sea bass with ginger & spring onions, aubergine hotpot, morning glory, beef brisket (fatty though), and lots more. The person who called this food tasteless must have had a tastebudectomy.

My new boyfriend and I went to Good Friends on our first date and it was amazing!! As a starter we had chicken feet with garlic and as main we shared pork belly hot pot with dehydrated fungus and duck tongue, which was delicious!!! The real highlight of the evening was the yummy dessert of fish head sorbet with eel eye sauce with pork intestine garnish...a real treat!!! I would recommend it to anyone especially for a first date!!! A definite winner!!!

I really enjoyed the food, it was very excellent, and I love the environment that they created, it made me felt so comfortable.

But to the service, I think it still have place to improve. I was confused that why the waitress who dressed in black shirt and black pant serve us with a long face.

And when I asked her to do me a favour to change a larger table for me , I was refused, although that larger table was vacant. That made me very uncomfortable.

Anyway, it is a good restaurant with excellent food and friendly waitress(most of them). I recommend.

After reading the reviews of "Good Friends" I visited the restaurant with my wife on a special anniversary and was not disappointed. Although we only went for one of the fixed menu's all the food was delicious and certainly some of the best Chinese I have tasted in a very long time.

Service was extremely friendly and we were moved from a table by the door to one at the rear of the restaurant without prompting. We were also offered glasses of water again without prompting even though we already had a bottle of wine. From experience this is certainly unusual particularly in Chinese restaurants.

As stated in other reviews there were a good number of Chinese people in the restaurant on the night we visited which is always a good sign.

On my next visit I certainly plan to try some of the more "exotic" dishes on offer!

Highly recommended!

We stayed overnight in Brighton with relatives on the 13.4.20010 at the Travellodge Hotel. I read some reviews on the Net prior to our journey.

I spotted the reviews of the Good Friends and was impressed with what was written. Well I must say what a wonderful evening we had. I could not fault anything, the service, food, atmosphere was excellent.

I would highly recommend anyone to this very friendly and attentive Restaurant, to taste authentic Chinese food.

Well done 10 out of 10. Looking foward to our next visit.

Quite simply the best Chinese food I've ever eaten. The staff are amazing and really take care of you. This is the sort of business that, despite the economic downturn, deserves to prosper.
