Shame ... I visited as a single diner last night whilst away on business. The waiting staff hanging around the bar eventually acknowledged my presence and directed me to a table in the window. I requested another as I don't enjoy passers-by looking on as I eat. i was told abruptly that the table I indicated was 'a big one'. So, bit the bullet and sat in the window seat. The waiter through a menu and cutlery on the table at which point, I left and visited the Good Friends Chinese next door.

The best Indian restaurant I have been to, most places I have been to some dishes have been excellent and others adequate, at Akash everything was brilliant and very tasty. It was less than £30 for two of us including a bottle of white, student discount is always handy.

Went to this restaurant on 13 April 2007. We have been here before and the food was up to its usual excellent standard. I think they have added a few new dishes to the menu.

Excellent value for money, and we had desserts and coffees. Great service. Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I visited Akash on Friday evening. The food was delicious and the service excellent. I did think the bottled beer was pricey though!

poppadoms, chutneys, two currys with rice and two large beers....£30.00

Bargain! We will be visiting again

Visited Akash last night for the fist time, after reading the recommendations of others on this site.........we were not disappionted!

Food was fantastic.....ingredients SO fresh, and cooked to perfection. Service very prompt, and friendly too.

My only very slight gripe would be, that in absence of any draught beer, the only option was a large bottle of Cobra. (Which was lovely, but slightly pricey at 5 pounds each).

We shall most definitely be back.

Highly endorsed.

A reasonable Indian restaurant. Menu is the normal range of stuff that you would find. Mine was in fairly good sized portions and nicely cooked. Spices were good and the curry hot & hot.

Decor run of the mill.

The service was a bit lacklustre & I was kept waiting a little longer than ideal - in a not very busy restaurant. The waiter was polite and friendly.

Prices were very good: I a had a basic meal for £10 (without drinks).

In summary: not worth detouring for but a pleasant workmanlike Indian with no great flaws.

I live very close to the Akash Tandoori and visit regularly. The quality of the food is consistantly high although the menu is fairly limited. The manager explained the majority of the ingredients are sourced from Waitrose which sets a good standard. I recommend the King Prawn Bhuna Puri as a starter and the Chicken Tikka Masala is a joy to behold (as are the Pathia and Dansak dishes). Try a chilled bottle of the french Muscadet with your meal and of course the obligatory poppadums. Enjoy!
