Would have been a 3 star rating however:-
1.They added a service charge onto our bill for a party of four- I don't like this sort of sharp practice, if I want to leave a tip I will do. If a business feels it needs to charge more to cover the staff's wages then add it to the price of the food. Just sticking on a service charge to every bill is the sort of cynical rip off tactics I expect of the worst sort of tourist trap
2. While the synchronised microwave display behind the counter was amusing I expect my food to be freshly cooked by a chef rather than batch cooked some unspecified time before then reheated, particularly when I'm paying nearly 20 quid a head.
On the plus side the puri starter was very good although the other items were lackluster and the mains average at best. Nice breads though.
Overall pretty poor and I felt ripped off

Excellent. Absolutely the best restaurant for Indian food in Brighton - I should know I'm Indian!! This is more like my mum's food, proper Indian food - not like the usual mainstream Indian takeaways that try to cater for western tastes. It's quirky, friendly with a homely feel and great value for a home cooked Indian meal. Book early it's very popular. It's all vegetarian and has an excellent wide selection of bottled beers, I really liked the Kenyan Tusker beer.

Had a poor meal here last weekend. Not recommended. Much better Indian restaurants elsewhere in Brighton.

Absolutely brilliant! A short menu but the daals were fantastic, highly recommend the paneer dishes and the hot parotas! I have been here twice and it is now amongst my favourite places to eat in Brighton - despite not being a vegetarian! No nonsense, no frills, a comfortable place to relax, cold beer and some great Indian (Gujarati-style) food!

Great place: Food is amazing and I love the Indian Street food starter. Mix and match main courses they're great. I've taken heaps of my male friends here for a veggie curry and they have been suprised by the flavour of the dishes and how full they've been :o)
Keep up the great work we love the food, the cheap prices and the staff :o)

Amazing place, very good value for money with huge portions and the guys that run it are so so sweet. It is delicious with a selection of real ales that changes quite often.

This is my favourite restaurant in Brighton. The atmosphere is fantastic, really relaxed, and the food is healthy as well as yummy. It's such a nice place to go with friends and as I live nearby I can vouch for the fact that it gets very busy most nights - best to book in advance if there's a group of you.

Went here with a friend recently and we were disappointed. The food was a bit insipid as can happen with mediocre vegetarian fare. The service seemed a bit impersonal too.
There are plenty of better vegetarian/vegan restaurants in Brighton. Sorry, can't recommend Planet India.
