I feel like i have to tell everybody that it was the worst indian restaurant i have been to in ages. The starter which cost around £5 listed alot of ingredients but when it arrived it was basically a bowl of chopped coriander, and didn't come with anything to eat it with, so we had to order popadums separately. The problem was that my main meal consisted of a large portion of rice placed down the centre of the plate with 2 very small portions of vegetable dishes either side. I also don't think tinned spinach is very nice. Left not feeling full and felt over charged. Can easily get a decent fair priced Indian meal elsewhere. This place is overrated.

I'm a serious meat eater and was some what reluctant but was persuaded by the very friendly owner(who i done some plumbing work for),and i'm sure glad i went.Right from the starters through to the end of the meal i was totally satisfied, and considering i'm not that keen on vegtables either this meal was one of the nicest meals i've eaten for a long while.I srongly advise anyone to pay a visit, happy eating

This was absolutely OUTSTANDING. The food burst with taste, and was stunning value. A vege indian- but I took serious carnivores, and they loved it!

I am very pleased to see Planet India is top of the list, I have been there twice since it reopened and it has been excellent both times, in terms of food, service and all-round experience. I can almost taste the cumin rice as I speak...

I am a dedicated meat eater, but Planet India is one of my favourite Brighton restaurants and deserves its place on your list. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I went to Planet India with my husband and two very hungover friends on Saturday and it was splendid. The aforementioned suffering friends are voracious meat eaters (as am I ) and were none too impressed that they were off to a vegetarian restaurant - there was much grumbling about mung bean munchers and 'knit your own spaghetti'. However, there was none of the special Brighton smugness about the place and the food was spectacular. The selection of starters was awesome and the main courses were really well put together and it was impressive how much attention to detail had been paid to the dishes - even the rice was impeccable.

For me, what was most impressive was the enthusiastic and congruous service: I have a nut allergy and this was dealt with swiftly and appropriately. There was a thorough explanation of all the ingredients used and not a hint of condescension (in other Brighton restaurants I have been asked to produce a hypodermic needle as proof and if my eyes pop out if I accidentally ingest a nut!).

We were a happy bunch as we left - hangovers quelled and rethinking of vegetarian eateries rethought. As you would expect from the clientele of an establishment selling Indian street food there is a startling amount of natural fabric and sandals from earnest ageing hippies, but that was the only cliche about this impressive restaurant. Thank you very much Planet India, you gave us a really lovely time.
