My freind bought me lunch in Bills last weekend for my birthday. She had been there before and thought the portion sizes had gone down. In fact we were both so disappointed by the size of the goats cheese tart and two salads (£7.95) that we ordered a slice of pizza between us to fill up. The herb salad was v nice and the butter bean salad very tasty, but as I say the tart was too small. I though the pizza was too much dough and too little topping but perhaps that's me.
We then went for the spectacular cakes and again my friend thought the portion size had gone down. The cakes were certainly the most exceptionally creative cakes and very delicious, but so they should be at the price.
The waiting staff were very attentive and we didn't have to wait as it was mid afternoon. I'd think twice about visiting again however simply on value for money grounds.

An absolute delight! The one place I don't mind queueing to get a table. Recommended are the pizzas, salads, smoothies and the wicked-but-beautiful puddings. Great atmosphere and good for spotting celebtities. Recommended.

Great food and really helpful staff.
Only eaten breakfast and lunch here, but been many times and am always delighted with what turns up. Order with confidence from either the standard menu or the specials board. Its all great. I always go for one of the smoothies (they have new ones everyday)
Have heard one or two people saying that "there's a bit too much going on with the food" but if you don't appreciate new tastes or well paired flavours which make every mouthful a talking point, then maybe you should stick to your fihfinger sandwhiches and bacon butties - oh wait, they do these here too. Thats the beauty; you can get and extravagant steak sandwhich or a fully loaded pizza or quiche slice, but you can also get a big pot of tea and a cracking doorstep bacon sandwhich with no frills.
Worth a visit, but if you can make it during the week you will avoid the long queues at the weekend.

Bill's the whole atmosphere is eclectic and buzzing , Food is created as an art form and tastes delicious at any time of the day . We want him in West St leonards where we are campaigning for a lido/iceskating rink instead of a concrete jungle which hastings Council have planned.

The place was cold and drafty. The pizza's were cold, stale and rubbery, the salads limp. The chocolate hazelnut desert was leaden and indigestible. Bill's didn't live up to the hype. Never again!

Love it! Not sure about the new dinner menu, but this is my favourite place in Brighton for breakfast. You really cannot go wrong here, but make sure you get there early as it's usually rammed by 10.30am on a Sunday.

I would have loved to try this place but they told me that I had to fold my push chair or I would be unable to go in. Very diapointed as my push chair does not fold.

Wow, the food at Bill's is amazing and the service is relatively speedy considering how packed the restaurant is. The specials run out quickly so get there early in the day and remember: the portions are huge. The surrounding deli and fruit and veg make you feel all the more virtuous whilst you dig in to their yummy puddings (and I'm not a pudding person...!) The only drawback is how busy and claustrophobic it can feel.

I came with some workmates for a Friday lunch, being familiar with the store but not having eaten in.
My steak sandwich consisted of strips of beefsteaf on a split focaccia, with roast vegetables and a little salad. Tasty, but I felt it overpriced at £9 as did two of my colleagues. The fourth musketeer chose a beetroot soup and wasn't impressed.
Service was fair, though I agree with the previous review that people milling about around you waiting for a table is distracting.
Overall, it's not on a must-visit list for me.
