great cocktails. Upstairs food is good, but poor value for money, given what £100 for 2 will get you else where in town.

We ate here last night and, overall, were disappointed. Having read previous reviews, we were expecting something different, and special. However, whilst the food was really quite good (the ribeye and cheese board in particular), the service was not.
We waited 20 minute for our table, and were invited to order cocktails at the bar. We ordered champagne cocktails which were bitter and undrinkable. The coffee afterwards had to be sent back twice, and when we asked for a list of brandies (hoping to order a particular spanish one), the waiter took it upon himself to deliver a glass of his choice - no doubt the most expenisve of them.
In all, the food and menu was great. The service however, was representative of the general tone of this restaurant - pretentious and overpriced. Not the point of tapas as we know it - better to be found elsewhere!

A very contemporary lively atmosphere, great cocktails in the bar area, good range of tapas/contemporary style foods. When you book make sure you ask for the 'upstairs restaurant'

We visited Brighton as part of a weekend away present for my girlfriends birthday, and having seen the online reviews of Pintxo (still can't pronounce it) People Restaurant decided that it would be nice to take my girlfriend for a romantic meal there.
From the start the service was excellent, and the staff generated a feeling that they were genuinely pleased that you had chosen to eat there, offering a very warm and friendly welcome. Prvious reviews regards the bar and bar staff are spot on. Tell the bartender what sort of thing you are after and let him surprise you with a cocktail - definitely a worthwhile experience - and you will be amazed that his choice is for you is right on the money.
Initially I was disappointed with the menu, since I do not like seafood and the menu had a lot of seafood on it. But I was feeling a little adventurous and decided to just go for. And I am so glad I did. Whilst I did not take to the texture of the scallops, the flavour was great. However, bearing in mind that I do NOT like seafood, I have to say that the Octopus was exquisite and a definite must for everyone regardless of whether you like seafood or not. The Patatas Bravas was one of the best I have eaten, the Chicken and Pork Skewers were brilliant.
Overall the meal was exceptional, and as a romantic birthday meal the whole experience was brilliant. Suffice to say that I scored a multitude of "brownie points" for the choice of restaurant.
The service, atmosphere, food and staff were all excellent and we would travel down from the Midlands again to dine at Pintxo People Bar and Restaurant.

FANTASTIC COCKTAILS
I visited the restaurant upstairs on my own, after a hard day in the office but wanting something nice to eat. All the staff made me feel really welcome, and I have been back several times since with friends and family.
The food is 'special', not ideal if you are starving hungry and want a cheap fix, but ideal if you enjoy good food in good surroundings. There is texture to the foos (if that makes sense?!) it tastes as though they have truly thought about the flavours and textures...
The bar is amazing, one of those places you can visit and say I want something fruity and spicy, and the bartender will produce something beyond any tastebuds imagination.
All in all a great place to go - especially if there is a group of you - and some nights they have a dj...

My husband & I ate here last night & thought it was fantastic. The staff were brilliant, from the bartender to our waiter. The venue was really unusual & such a surprise to see how how beautiful the 1st floor dining room was. Our food was lovely & the menu had something for everyone.

I have children so have eaten several times in the cafe downstairs for lunch - it is very relaxed, cheap, staff are friendly and my little boy loves the tortilla.
Last night I experienced grown up Pintxo and loved it! Upstairs is a totally different fine dining concept and my friend and I had an amazing time. The restaurant looks really beautiful and we made a bee-line for the cocktail bar, which didn't disappoint. Seated at our table the charming waiter chose a selection of 5 dishes for us, which was plenty! The most memorable dishes were seared tuna with tomato marmalade and hoi sin cured salmon (I asked for a copy of the menu) We drank a bottle of Montes with the food.
Overall the atmosphere was really buzzy, the service attentive and most importantly we were not rushed even though it was getting late. Not cheap but worth every penny, we have already booked to go back!

I had such a great time here last night!
Dined in the first floor restaurant.Really surprising and exciting menu. Wasn't sure what to expect. The two of us shared six dishes- the scallops and mango and the marinated pork belly were particaully good. It is not typical tapas, and the waiter explained it was modern Spanish. The only thing that seemed tapas like to me is the sharing plates and we were nicely stuffed with six- couldn't fit dessert in.
6 dishes and a bottle of wine, fun staff, stylish room. Bill came to £61 plus service- Not bad at all for a treat! I like Pintxo People!

I went to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago on a hen party that I had arranged.
I was slightly disappointed - I had been told that the decor and ambience was very Spanish but to be honest I could have been in any other restaurant. The food was ok but an odd mix - maybe not worth the money.
When it came to pay the manager made some derogatory comments about "women always causing problems when paying for the bill!" This was because some of us wanted to pay by cash and others by card. Those of us that paid by credit card later checked our accounts to find that they had taken more money out than we had signed for!
Unfortunately this wasn't a great experience for us and if you pay by card BEWARE!

I can't understand all the good reviews of this place on here. For the record this is over-priced, pretentious, low quality fayre. We won't be back. There is much better tapas to be had in Brighton where the plates are smaller, the portions bigger and the flavours much better balanced.
