YO! Sushi
your comments review this restaurant
I went into YO! Sushi on monday, I have recently gotten very into japanese food and although i am normally a regular at pompoko i decided to give sushi a try! (please read this whole review!)
now i was a bit worried at first because ive heard its expensive but thought i could at least afford two dishes so id give it a go!, i got in their and their was someone already chatting to the lady behind the counter but no sooner had i thought about waiting did a waiter come over and offer to seat me, he sat me down and asked if i had been before and was very friendly, he told me that if what i wanted was not on the convery belt then just grab his attention and order it, but first he took down my order anyways but not before informing me that on mondays all dishs are only £2.20! (well from a choice of 50 dishs but not bad!)
alot of what i wanted was not on the conveyor belt so he took my order left then returned and politley asked if i had ever used chopstick before but i had learnt already and just as i finished saying this my order was ready! so fast! he even sat and told me and showed me how much ginger to put in my sauce to give it a nice flavour etc!
he was very very friendly, at one point even the chef went after a dish for me when he saw me unable to get a hold on it, he dropped what he was doing to grab it for me!.
the service was lovely, the prices (on a monday) were more than acceptable! it doesnt fill you for long though, i finished my 5 dishs at 4pm and by 8pm i was getting hungry again (just on time for dinner!) which if you ask me is good for a big lunch without worrying that you will spoil your dinner!.

first couple of visits were good but expensive, we're talking approx 2 years ago but recently they have very little on the conveyor belt and if you order it takes ages to come. The portions are miniscule and you end up paying a huge bill and are still hungry. If you were to eat enough to fill you up (without alcohol or dessert) the bill for one person would be £45 at least -ridiculous really. They need to introduce more offers or they will collapse soon as people can't afford to be ripped off these days!

I can only afford to go when they have discount vouchers, but the sushi is always very good, and the atmosphere great too. Whilst definitely not up to the sushi at my favourite places in London and Japan, I've always really enjoyed going to Yo!.

So long as you don’t mind what you’re eating or how much you’re spending its fine. I’m vegetarian and was very disappointed as you can’t tell what is vege unless you do some proper investigative work with the menu. They also don’t put many of the Vege meals on the conveyer belt as they are generally the cheaper ones. So there is very little choice.
It's very expensive many of my friends who liked it spent £20 or more and said they were still hungry. Personally I tried one thing and decided it wasn’t worth this much effort or money to eat not very amazing food and went to pizza express across the road where I got better service and food.
Watching them get food out of boxes in front of you also doesn’t really create a great feel for the place and it was difficult to attract the attention of the waiters. I don’t know how other people can find it "relaxing" I hated it.

The food's not that cheap although it's not bad but £6 for a can of beer is obscene.

Great place to go whoever your with, been their with family and friends and always had a great experience. Sitting at the bar has always been great as seeing your food travel round on a belt is perhaps the most exciting and individual thing yosushi has and adds to the casual and relaxed atmosphere it has. One of the few sushi bars in Brighton, this is affordable and makes sushi feel like an everyday restaurant to be in. Food excellent and has good selection from drinks, hot dishes, raw fish to dessert. Always worth going, great for a spur of the moment place to visit.

I am a huge fan of japanese food and i also work for an executive lifestyle magazine, as a resteraunt, wine and clubhouse journalist, but i've recently visited yo-sushi a few times, in london harrods, brighton, bluewater, london harvey nichols, and london paddington. all of them have average to very bad service, food choice is a lot but not really ordinary japenese food, and the quality of food and freshness is very horrible, I personally will never recomend it.
But i can provide you a guide here! If you are looking for japanese where ever you live, or where ever you are shopping, best not to go to Yo Sushi, and search online with ur mobile or home comp, to find sushi or japanese near by, and go to the smallest restaurant you can find!! 8 out of 10 times you do that, should be able to find the best japanese food you ever had in the uk......of course that only aply to the first time you do that! but i can promise 8/10 times you do that must be a very very good restaurant! I promise!

I recently visited the Yo Sushi Restaurant in Brighton and I was so disappointed.
It is not the first time that I leave this restaurant and tell myself to not go there anymore.
The food is good as usual but the service is so bad.
There is many restaurant in Brighton where you feel welcome and the waiter (and manager) are happy to see you enjoying your food but Yo Sushi is not on of them.
On my last visit with one of my client we arrived, the manager show us our 2 sites on the bar and and at the middle of our meal we had to move 2 sites.
We didn’t had any help form a waiter or even the manager who ask us to move and by this result my bowl of Miso soup feel on me and nobody came to see if I was all right or to help us carry on moving our plates. No instead the manager was looking and chatting with on of her friend who keep her busy by talking Anyway, Yo Sushi is a chain so you can’t expect to have a very good service all the time but smiling or being nice is not much especially when the restaurant is empty.
For the same amount of money you can find better restaurant which serve Sushi.
